Ex quo omnia
From whom are all things
Our mission is to guide individuals in healing and growth by bridging the timeless wisdom of Catholic spirituality with sound, practical psychology.
Ever ancient, ever new...
Quomnia is an effort to bring hope, healing, and purpose through the return to the source, the God from whom all things come and to whom all things return.
This is not the place for therapy, spiritual direction, or liturgy; these matters should be addressed in their respective settings. Quomnia serves as a bridge between clinical mental health therapy, spiritual direction, liturgical living, and everyday practical life for individuals, couples, families, and communities, striving to be whole.
We offer a simple yet profound approach to align your heart and whole being with goodness, health, and flourishing.
Quomnia is an approach to examining the mind and heart, discerning the situations of our lives, forging through struggles, and abiding in Christ. Not a trend but a return. Not self-help, but whole-person renewal.
Our Story
Quomnia is built upon a lifetime of walking in two worlds: the heart of the Catholic faith and the practice of professional psychotherapy.
This source of the work began with our founder, Johnathan Sumpter, a husband and father of five. For over two decades, his path has been deeply immersed in Catholic ministry. From his time as a seminarian and certified spiritual director to years spent leading faith formation for parishes and presenting at national conferences, he has been on the front lines of guiding people in their spiritual journey. In 2010, his path expanded into the field of clinical psychotherapy, where he has provided professional counseling in diverse clinical environments.
Today, he relies on this rich experience into his professional clinical work. Johnathan serves as the Director of the University of Dallas Counseling Center and is the Founder & CEO of The Mental Well.
Standing at the crossroads of these two worlds, he witnessed a painful gap: individuals often felt lost between spiritual direction and mental health struggles, and spiritual directors and clinicians often did not feel there was a way to connect their efforts.
Quomnia was founded as the bridge across that gap. It is a practical way to help you heal as a whole person, ensuring your psychological well-being and your spiritual life are deeply integrated, with your directors and clinicians.
Our Approach
At Quomnia, we believe that true and lasting healing requires tending to the whole person: mind, body, and soul. Our unique approach provides the framework and resources to connect the best of psychological science with the rich traditions of Catholic faith to guide you in healing and to provide deeper fulfillment in life. We introduce the approach with the Four Movements of Quomnia: Examine the source of your struggles, Discern the best course of action to move forward, Forge through struggles virtuously with your purpose in mind, and Abide in God’s Grace. Each step integrates sound psychology with timeless Catholic wisdom, providing a clear path toward wholeness.
Our Vision
We envision a Church where Catholics confidently move through struggles, compassionately embrace their healing, and understand authentic joy as an integration of the whole person made in the image and likeness of God. Our hope is for every individual to cultivate deep peace by tending to the health of the mind, the care of the body, communion with the Body of Christ, the Church, and the sanctification of the soul, all within a vibrant, Christ-centered life.
